Sevda received her Bachelor’s of Science degree in Environmental Engineering from the Middle East Technical University in Ankara, Turkey. Her previous research concentrated on the use of biological processes for wastewater treatment and sludge handling, anaerobic digestion and co-digestion and the use of genotypic methods for understanding microbial community dynamics. She received her Ph.D. from Villanova University in 2014 with her research focused on resource use efficiency and environmental assessment tools for biosolids management processes.
Sevda is currently the postdoctoral fellow at the USDA Forest Service for the Waste to Wisdom project. She is supporting the team by conducting analyses to quantify the life-cycle environmental benefits of utilizing forest residues with biomass conversion technologies, torrefaction and briquetting, for the production of bioenergy and bio-based products.
