Waste to Wisdom will conduct six webinars – three in fall 2015 and three in 2016 – that will detail the project’s innovative research into better using forest residues for the production of bioenergy and bio-based products.
Life Cycle Assessment and Economics of Torrefied Biomass
This webinar presents the results from a life cycle assessment and economic analysis of producing torrefied biomass from forest residues.
Production of Quality Feedstock from Forest Residues for Emerging Biomass Conversion Technologies
The Waste to Wisdom feedstock development research team presents innovative methods of producing quality feedstocks from forest residues that are currently underutilized or wasted. The main topics presented include the separating/sorting of tree tops from logging residues during timber operations, quality of feedstocks produced from tops and limbs/branches, and baling limbs/branches for efficient handling and transportation.
Biochar Production Using Forest Residuals
This Waste to Wisdom webinar focuses on the project’s research into the production of biochar from forest residuals and evaluates the potential to operate a biochar production machine at or near forest operation sites.
Evaluation of Economic and Environmental Benefits from Utilizing Forest Residues
The Waste to Wisdom biofuels and biobased product development analysis team presents preliminary analysis of feedstocks made from and methods used to extract forest residues that are currently underutilized or wasted. The main topics include economic analysis of feasibility and impacts, lifecycle analysis, and evaluating biochar’s impacts on forest soils.
